Funding

The Housing Authority is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development. The funding is separated by program - Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher Program. Special funding for each of these two programs is also part of the financial resources received from HUD.

The two major funding categories for Public Housing are Operating Subsidy and Capital Fund - funding levels in 2010 were approximately $1.8 million and $411,000, respectively. With demolition and/or disposition of Public Housing units, a public housing authority may be awarded special "Replacement Housing Factor" funding. Over the years, the Housing Authority has been awarded approximately $3.6 million.

For the Housing Choice Voucher Program, the Authority receives approximately $11.5 million annually, which includes special funding for the Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing [VASH] program and a coordinator for the Family Self-Sufficiency program.
